The Healthy Eating & Lifestyle Resource Center, a new website co-hosted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Eating Well magazine, provides an easy way to pass on the salt shaker, with recipes that are both low in sodium and high in flavor. This site is part of the Million Hearts® initiative to prevent 1 million heart attacks and strokes by 2017. Sodium is found in table salt and processed foods, and contributes to high blood pressure, which can lead to strokes and heart attacks.

On the new website you can search for recipes based on the number of servings, type of cuisine, preparation time and lifestyle—budget, kid-friendly and vegetarian, for example.
