“What’s So Bloody Funny?” NHF’s evening of comedy, brought together established and up-and-coming performers to the Gotham Comedy Club in New York City for a night of fun and fundraising on Wednesday, October 21, 2015.
Hosted by Alex Borstein, star of HBO’s Getting On and the voice of Lois Griffin in Fox’s Family Guy, the evening featured standout standup comedy from young comedians John Early (30 Rock, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp) and Matteo Lane (Clipped) as well as established talents Mariana Franklin (Trainwreck; The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore; Last Comic Standing) and Robert Kelly (Louie, Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn).
The evening kicked off with a set by Alex, who combined jokes with information about bleeding disorders. “’What’s So Bloody Funny?’ gives us a chance to raise awareness of bleeding disorders outside of the community who usually go to our events,” says Mary Ann Ludwig, VP for Development at NHF, who retired in December 2015. This event sold more than 200 tickets. “We’re grateful that someone as talented as Alex is willing to use her star power to help the foundation.”
“What’s So Bloody Funny?” raised more than $60,000 for NHF to support its programs and services.
