Taking your eyes off the road for the few seconds it takes to read, type or send a text message can be fatal, according to the National Highway Traffic Safe­ty Administration (NHTSA). More than 25% of fatal crashes are caused by distracted drivers in their 20s. Every year, approximately 400,000 people are injured in vehicle crashes caused by a distracted driver. More than 660,000 drivers use cell phones or other electronic devices, says the NHTSA.

•    Read over these causes of distracted driving to see which ones you need to correct:

•    Using a cell phone or smartphone

•    Eating and drinking

•    Talking to passengers

•    Reading, including maps

•    Using a navigation system

•    Watching a video

•    Adjusting a radio, or CD or MP3 player

•    Grooming
