Now in its third year, the Red Tie Campaign began as a grassroots awareness initiative to raise funds and awareness and to find better treatments and cures for bleeding disorders. Today it’s a nationwide campaign that runs throughout Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month and officially ends on April 17, which is World Hemophilia Day.
2. Show off your red tie style on social media.
Introduced as the official symbol of the bleeding disorders community in 2016, the red tie reflects the fact that blood—embodied in the color red and the tie—is what binds the community together. Create your own red tie style with a tie, scarf or other favorite red accessory, and share your photos on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram with #RedTieCampaign.
3. Make a donation.
Your generous gift to the Red Tie Campaign will support innovative research, critical advocacy and education programs. Nearly 80 cents of every dollar you donate goes toward NHF programs. If you designate your gift to an NHF chapter, NHF will match gifts to chapters up to $750. Donate today.
4. Find out what your local NHF chapter has planned for Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month.
Many chapters sponsor fundraising events during the month of March to benefit NHF.
5. Support NHF’s advocacy efforts by following what’s happening at Washington Days on social media.
The annual NHF Washington Days advocacy event is March 27-29, 2019, on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. More than 400 volunteer advocates from across the country will meet with legislators and congressional staff members to advocate on key federal issues, such as Medicare, the Affordable Care Act and funding for bleeding disorders programs at hemophilia treatment centers (HTCs).
